Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse 2026

Loosely inspired by Napoleon’s bedroom at Malmaison, this cozy, diminutive, yet elegant guest bedroom is a fresh interpretation of a tented room. Neoclassical ornamentation, gilt accents, and classical references blend with the sumptuous simplicity of French modernism and the organic functionality of Japanese design. The furniture takes a cue from One Monroe Place’s mansard roof, which was added during an 1860s alteration — a time when American architecture and design was influenced by Haussmann’s reconstruction of Paris taking place across the Atlantic. We imagined this room as a quiet sanctuary for resting, reading, writing, sketching, and dreaming.
